Analysis of Work Ethic, Work Discipline, and Work Motivation on Employee Work Productivity at pt Belawan New Container Terminal
Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the effect of work ethic, work discipline, and work
motivation on employee work productivity at PT Belawan New Container Terminal. This
study used a quantitative approach with an associative research design. The population in this
study consisted of all permanent employees of PT Belawan New Container Terminal, totaling
210 employees. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula with an error rate
of 10 percent, resulting in 68 respondents. The sampling technique used was purposive
sampling, with the criteria that respondents were permanent employees, had worked for at
least one year, and did not hold managerial positions. Primary data were obtained through the
distribution of closed questionnaires using a Likert scale. The data analysis technique was
conducted using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed
that work ethic had a positive and significant effect on work productivity, with a regression
coefficient of 0.426 and a significance value of 0.001. Work discipline also had a positive and
significant effect, with a regression coefficient of 0.400 and a significance value of 0.001.
Work motivation had a positive and significant effect, with a regression coefficient of 0.314
and a significance value of 0.004. Simultaneously, work ethic, work discipline, and work
motivation had a significant effect on work productivity, with an Fcount value of 210.015 and
a significance value of 0.000. The Adjusted R Square value of 0.903 indicated that 90.3
percent of the variation in work productivity could be explained by the three variables. Work
ethic was the most dominant variable affecting employee work productivity.
