The Implementation of the Values of Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin in Al-Qur’an and Hadith Learning at MAS Tahfizhil Qur’an Islamic Centre Medan

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin values in Al-Qur’an Hadith learning at MAS Tahfizhil Qur’an Islamic Centre Medan. Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin values are viewed as an important foundation in Islamic education, emphasizing moderation, tolerance, civility, and orientation toward the welfare of the community. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research informants consisted of the principal, Al-Qur’an Hadith teachers, tahfizh teachers, and students.

The results of the study indicate that the implementation of Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin values in Al-Qur’an Hadith learning is carried out through three main aspects: lesson planning, learning implementation, and school culture. In the planning aspect, teachers have integrated values such as tolerance, moderation, and exemplary conduct into the learning tools. In the implementation aspect, these values are applied through dialogical learning methods, teacher role modeling, and the habituation of religious attitudes such as greeting, praying, and deliberation in classroom discussions. In the aspect of school culture, Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin values are strengthened through Qur’an memorization activities, congregational prayers, short religious lectures, and social activities.

However, challenges are still found in the evaluation aspect, particularly in measuring students’ attitudes, which has not yet been carried out systematically and continuously. The conclusion of this study shows that the implementation of Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin values has been carried out well, but strengthening is needed in the aspects of evaluation and consistency in internalizing these values in students’ daily lives.
