Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of organizational commitment and
organizational culture on the improvement of employee performance at the Regional Office
of the Directorate General of Corrections of North Sumatra, both partially and
simultaneously. This study uses a quantitative associative approach, with a population
consisting of all employees within the Regional Office of the Directorate General of
Corrections of North Sumatra. The research sample consisted of 110 respondents determined
using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected through a
questionnaire using a 1-5 Likert scale, which was then processed with the help of the SPSS
program, including validity testing, reliability testing, classical assumption testing, and
multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that all instrument items were declared
valid and reliable. Hypothesis testing shows that organizational commitment has a positive
and significant effect on employee performance (t-count 5.339 > t-table 1.982; sig 0.000 <
0.05), and organizational culture also has a positive and significant effect on employee
performance (t-count 2.881 > t-table 1.982; sig 0.005 < 0.05). Simultaneously, organizational
commitment and organizational culture have a significant effect on employee performance
(F-count 39.887 > F-table 3.081; sig 0.000 < 0.05), with a contribution (Adjusted R Square)
of 41.6 percent, while the remainder is influenced by other factors outside this research
model. This study recommends that organizational leaders continue to strengthen employees'
affective commitment and build a supportive work culture in order to improve performance
on a sustainable basis.
