The Role of the Village-Owned Enterprise in Boosting the Economy of Hiligoduhoya Village, Lahewa Subdistrict, North Nias Regency

This study aims to analyze the role of the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) UMBU FAOMASI in promoting the economic growth of the community of Hiligoduhoya Village, Lahewa District, North Nias Regency. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation studies. The findings show that BUMDes UMBU FAOMASI contributes significantly to increasing Village Original Revenue (PAD), creating local employment opportunities, and empowering the community through the management of active business units, while also performing social functions within the community. However, the BUMDes faces several challenges, including limited infrastructure, unstable electricity supply, and relatively low human resource capacity. Efforts to strengthen human resource capacity through training and socialization, as well as business planning based on local potential, are key strategies for addressing these constraints. This study recommends strengthening cross-sector collaboration, improving infrastructure, and implementing transparent and accountable governance to enhance the role of BUMDes as a pillar of sustainable rural economic and social development.
